As dysfunctional as our nation's healthcare system is, few industries are as poorly served by the status quo as the arts. An employment based healthcare system just doesn't work for most folks who work in the arts. We need coverage that is portable and not tied to employment. We need ways of banding together so that we're not left alone to grapple with impenetrable bureaucracies. And we need coverage that is affordable on arts-industry wages.

Artists Outside NY State

Fractured Atlas has partnered with Aetna to provide affordable health insurance to artists in 29 states and the District of Columbia. These plans are available at extremely competitive prices, but they come with deductibles. However, most offer some form of "first dollar" coverage for preventive care. They also can be paired with health savings accounts, giving you a tax-free way to save for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.

For the moment, comprehensive coverage options are available in the states listed above. However, Fractured Atlas provides a few special programs that aren't technically health insurance but that can still provide valuable relief from crippling healthcare expenses.
